A Panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives chosen by the people at the village level (Gram Panchayat), block level (Block Panchayat), and district level (District Panchayat). History of Grama Panchayat

Rich in coastal areas, hills, and valleys, the Peruvayal Panchayat is a rural region located near Kozhikode city. The primary crops cultivated here include paddy, coconut, arecanut, rubber, and banana. Traditional crafts such as handloom weaving, pottery, and beedi rolling were once significant but have declined with the advent of modern industries. Primary schools were established here in the 1920s, while high schools were only introduced in 1980. The Mavoor Road passes through the Panchayat, and water transport relying on the Chaliyar River was also a key mode of transportation in the past.
